Hacking – The Future of Auto Theft

Today’s cars are are more complicated than ever.   Many functions that were once mechanical, like the accelerator pedal, and braking system are being replaced by electronic components that are controlled by “micro processors”.   Your car is basically turning into a rolling computer.   And now with the capability of being connected to the internet, researchers are claiming that your car could be vulnerable to “hacking” and “viruses”,  just like your home computer.   So don’t be surprised  if software replaces  old fashioned and often ignored theft deterrents, like  car alarms and steering wheel locks in the near future.
